Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) has an extensive curriculum for Cooking Education. The program offers a variety of classes in culinary arts, food service, nutrition, and hospitality. It’s the perfect place for aspiring chefs and cooking enthusiasts to learn about their passions.

The school's B.S. in Hospitality and Tourism Administration with an emphasis in Culinary Arts is a great way for students to gain hands-on experience in the kitchen as well as develop basic business and management skills. This degree provides an opportunity for students to explore cuisine from around the world as well as take classes in nutrition and hospitality. Course options include Introduction to Culinary Arts, Advanced Food Preparation and Management, Garde Manger, Classical and Regional Cuisine, American Regional Cuisine, and Research in the Culinary Arts.

MTSU also has a Culinary Apprenticeship Program that allows students to join a working kitchen experience and learn on the job. The program provides students with exposure to a variety of roles within the culinary profession, such as pastry chef, line cook, food and beverage manager, catering manager, and culinary executive.

In addition, there are plenty of other opportunities within the community to further expand one’s knowledge in cooking. For example, the university’s Student-Run Café gives students the chance to participate in the development, preparation, and service of their own restaurant.
