Berkshire Community College offers an expansive range of cooking education programs to fulfill the needs of aspiring chefs. From Certificate Programs to Associate's Degree Programs, BCC gives its students the opportunity to explore their culinary talents and develop the necessary skills to become successful in the world of professional cooking.
The Culinary Arts Program at BCC provides a comprehensive curriculum that covers all aspects of professional cooking. Students learn a variety of classical cooking techniques and acquire the knowledge needed to work in both the front and back of the kitchen. Through hands-on training and theoretical studies, students gain the skills required to create restaurant-level dishes, as well as prepare dishes from a variety of global cuisines.
Additionally, students receive specialized instruction in topics such as nutrition, menu planning, safety and sanitation, food and wine pairing, baking, and more. Students also have access to a commercial grade kitchen and butchery and bakery labs where they can put into practice what they learn in the classroom.
At BCC, students are not limited to just learning in the classroom: they are also encouraged to participate in field trips and workshops that allow them to observe and explore the culture of cooking and related topics. Through these experiences, students gain a better appreciation for the art of cooking and the various forms it can take.
Upon completion of the program, graduates are provided with the necessary knowledge, skills, and credentials to pursue a career in the food service industry. With courses that are fully accredited by the American Culinary Federation, cooking education at BCC is a great way to get started on your journey towards becoming an accomplished chef.
