Eastern Maine Community College (EMCC) offers an array of cooking education opportunities to help students reach their culinary goals. EMCC provides two programs that can lead to successful careers in the restaurant and food service industry. The first is a Certificate in the Culinary Arts, which is designed for students who are looking to gain a solid foundation in the fundamentals of cooking and the preparation of food. This program focuses on basic theory and skills, as well as safety and sanitation, knife handling, and menu planning. Upon completion of this certificate, students will have a working knowledge of food preparation, presentation, and nutrition.

The second program available at EMCC is an Associate's Degree in Culinary Arts. This degree is designed for students who want to take their training to the next level and specialize in a particular area of the culinary field. Coursework includes hands-on instruction in areas such as advanced baking, pastry, grilling, sauces and stocks, and food presentation. Through completing the Associate's Degree program, students will have the skills and knowledge needed to assume a management role in the culinary industry.

At EMCC, students have additional resources available to them to help them succeed. Students have access to the school's state-of-the-art teaching kitchen, which provides the latest equipment and technology.
