Northern Arizona University offers a variety of cooking education opportunities to students in the area. From Certificate programs, to Associate's degrees, to Bachelor's degrees and beyond, students have the opportunity to learn how to prepare, cook and present delicious meals while honing their skills in food service management.

The Department of Nutrition and Hospitality Management at NAU offers a range of different classes and programs to help students explore their individual interests in cooking. From Introduction to Culinary Arts to Advanced Baking and Pastry, there is something for everyone to take part in. With a focus on both classic and modern techniques, students will be able to develop their culinary skills and build a foundation for a successful career in the foodservice industry.

NAU’s Culinary Arts Certificate program allows students to learn the basics of cooking and foodservice management in a supportive and structured environment. Working with professional chefs, students are taught everything from basic to advanced cooking techniques, as well as proper nutrition and food safety. They will also learn the important business aspects of the hospitality industry, such as cost control, menu planning, and labor laws.

For those looking for more in-depth culinary training, an Associate's degree in Culinary Arts is available. Through this program, students gain a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of working in the restaurant and foodservice industries. Students learn a wide range of topics, including food science, nutrition, catering services, menu development, food production, and more. After completing the program, graduates will have the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in their chosen field.

NAU also offers two different paths to a Bachelor's degree in Culinary Arts. The Concentration in Nutrition & Food Science focuses on the science of cooking, with courses in food chemistry and food microbiology, as well as foodborne illness prevention. The Specialization in Professional Chef Training provides a more hands-on culinary experience, with courses in advanced baking and pastry, international cuisine, and more. Both paths train students to be knowledgeable, well-rounded professionals, ready to meet the needs of any employer.
