About

Tulsa Community College (TCC) offers a variety of courses to those interested in cooking education. From courses for aspiring chefs to home cooks, TCC gives students the opportunity to learn about food preparation, nutrition, and more. Whether you are looking to become certified as an executive chef or just take a few classes to improve your home cooking skills, TCC has something for everyone.

The Cooking Technology program at TCC provides instruction on food theory, culinary methodologies, and kitchen operations. Students learn about proper knife skills, food safety, and nutrition. Additionally, classes focus on understanding equipment, product knowledge and costing, basic cooking methods, and nutritional analysis.

In addition to the Technology program, TCC also offers courses such as Introduction to Cooking, Baking, and Advanced Cooking Methods. Each course is designed to help students develop their culinary skills and understand the science behind how food is prepared. Students gain an appreciation of the cultural and historical aspects of the culinary world while gaining confidence in their abilities in the kitchen.

For those interested in a career in food service, TCC provides two Associate of Applied Science degrees – Culinary Management and Hospitality Management. With a Culinary Management degree students will prepare to manage cook staff, coordinate menu selections, and design recipes. With a Hospitality Management degree, students gain knowledge and skills in restaurant, hotel, and catering management.

No matter what path is chosen, TCC gives its students the opportunity to pursue the culinary knowledge and skills that will lead to success. With both short-term and long-term classes, TCC can provide a foundation for any type of cooking education.
