Great Plains Technology Center offers a range of cooking education initiatives to help individuals develop practical culinary skills. Through hands-on training, the Great Plains Technology Center encourages individuals to explore the art of cooking. Cooking classes, workshops and seminars equip individuals with knowledge to create delicious meals and enhance their knowledge of cooking ingredients, nutrition, selection and storage.

The basic cooking class covers the fundamentals of food preparation, understanding of the ingredients and the ability to create simple to complex dishes. In hands-on workshops, participants learn basic knife skills, roasting and braising, baking, poaching and grilling. For those who are more experienced in the kitchen, classes on specialty dishes and global cuisine courses are also available.

At the Great Plains Technology Center, students learn about different types of food preparation methods, gain an understanding of nutrition and acquire skills for menu planning and food presentation. With the help of experienced chefs, students develop skills in culinary arts and gain an appreciation of color, texture and flavor that can be used to increase creative choices in the kitchen.
