White Mountains Community College (WMCC) provides a comprehensive cooking education program to help students become experienced chefs. WMCC's program is designed to provide students the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of the culinary arts, partaking in the knowledge base and real-world experience of successful chefs and restaurateurs. The program focuses on the integral skills involved in creating quality food, as well as management practices and techniques that are used in the culinary world.
At WMCC, students will have the opportunity to learn from expert instructors and utilize state-of-the-art kitchens, restaurants and equipment. Instructed classes include cooking methods, food characterization and menu planning, nutrition, baking and pastry, and food safety and sanitation. For those who wish to pursue a culinary career, WMCC also offers an Associate degree in Culinary Arts, offering students the opportunity to earn a Bachelor's degree after completion of their coursework. Additionally, many of WMCC’s courses provide industry certifications, such as ServSafe and American Culinary Federation certifications.
In addition to its curricular offerings, WMCC has several student-run organizations and clubs, such as the International Association of Culinary Professionals and the White Mountain Chefs Association, which offer additional networking and learning opportunities. Members of these clubs can benefit from activities, tours and workshops with knowledgeable consultants, as well as participate in culinary competitions. Such activities allow students to gain real-world experience focusing on the culinary arts.
