About

Cooking education at Ensign College is designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the culinary industry. The program offers courses that are designed to help students understand the fundamentals of cooking, as well as develop their cooking skills and techniques. Students have the opportunity to learn from experienced chefs and instructors, while developing their own skills and creativity.

Throughout their studies, students will develop an in-depth understanding of the fundamentals of cooking as well as an overview of the science and art behind it. Courses focus on topics such as nutrition, food safety, sanitation and hygiene, menu planning, food presentation, knife skills, and more. They also learn about foodstuffs and their composition, food rival pairings, how to cook different kinds of food, and much more.

In addition to the classroom studies, students are given the opportunity to participate in hands-on lab sessions where they can get a feel for working in a professional kitchen. From plating food and creating dishes to using proper kitchen equipment and tools, these sessions immerse students in the culinary world.

Through their cooking occupation course, students will also gain important work experience and gain insights into the world of restaurant management. This can help them prepare for successful careers in both the food service and hotel industries.

At the end of the program, graduates will have a solid foundation in the fundamentals of cooking and be able to apply the knowledge they’ve acquired towards achieving success in the culinary industry.
